Trekking on Mount Cameroon

Itinerary
Day 1 : Douala
Arrival and Douala International airport, meet and great by our guide and transfer at the hotel for dinner and night
Day 2 : Douala – Buea – Mount Cameroon
Very early, departure from Douala to Buea. Arrival and start formalities. Departure at 8h30 am to climb this Cameroon Mountain. Break at refuge 1 (1850m) the ascent begins very early. The first slope are very quite. We can admire the magnificent trees and the first black lava flows. Behind us, much lower down, are the black beaches of Limbé, a small fishing port and seaside resort. On the side, mount etindé, the ‘’ little mount Cameroon’’ announce the volcanic atmosphere of this summit. Then, leaving the forest, a mysterious mist covers the sides of the mountain again, the summit is still not visible. Dinner and night at Refuge 1.
Day 3 : Refuge 1 - Refuge 2 – Summit - Man’s Spring -
Early awakening, breakfast and departure for the second refuge, and continuation to the the third Refuge. Arrive to man’s spring craters of Mount Cameroon. Man’s spring a day of hinking on the craters eruptive lava of 1990 and 1999. The observation of the summit plateau its exceptional, incredible variations of dark volcanic rocks where rare flowers and other plants grow offer a rare lunar landscape where hangs a few fumaroles. dinner and night at Refuge 3.
Day 3 : Refuge 3 – Man’s Spring Camp
Departure in the early morning to full man’s spring . the fumaroles and lava flows remind us that thid volcano its still active. The slope is more and more gentle on the top, we must go around and pass several craters. Its rare to be able to observ the plain, often covered by a mist. We can start now the descent to the second camp, around 2850 m. last descent to the forest. The slope is getting softer and softer.
Day 4 : Man’s Spring Camp – Garry camp
Breakfast at Man’s spring, start of the descent to Buea, walk through the rainforest, crossing old lava and opportunity to observ antelopes, monkeys, birds and elephants forest. Walk to dring garry camp and overnight in the forest. Approximative walking time 6 hours.
Day 5 : Garry Camp – Buea – Limbe
Breakfast and continue to descent towards Buea on the elephant’s road, possibility of seeing them. Arrival at the small village Boukoango and continue to Buea. We drive now through tee plantation to Limbé and Seme Beach to relax. Dinner and night.
Day 6 : Limbé – Bimbia
Relax at Limbé beach. Discover Bimbia, bimbia it’s the place slaves were deported and Limbé Zoo. Back to hotel for dinner and night.
Day 7 : Limbe – Douala
Departure to Douala, city tour. Evening we drive to airport and end of stay.
