Expedition to the biodiversity of Dja Reserve – Cameroon
– 7 Days / 06 nights

Located in the south of Cameroon and declared a world Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987, the Dja reserve covers an area of 5 260 kms and has more than 1500 plant species. As for the fauna, it counts more than 107 mammals and 320 species of birds scattered inside and around the reserve. This fauna includes elephants, gorillas and chimpanzees, ideal for ecotourism lovers.

 

The Dja reserve, you will live a unique experience with pygmies, the first inhabitants of the equatorial forest, who will initiate you to hunting, fishing and traditional medicine and to the traditional gathering of honey.

 

At the night, the whole tribe will perform their dance for you around a large wood fire.

Itinerary

Day 1 : Yaounde.

Arrival at Nsimalen international airport, welcome by the guide and transfer to hotel for dinner and night.

Day 2 : Yaounde – Somalomo – Dja Reserve

Early wake up. Breakfast and departure to the Dja reserve. Stop at Messamena for drink and continuation to Somalomo. We arrive somalomo, drive to Dja Headquaters for formalities.

Day 3 : Somalomo – Chouam Rock – Bouamir

Departure in the morning to Bouamir campsite. Trekking and we need 16 kms walking to arrive Chouam Rock, discover the Chouam Rock, we can have the chance to meet monkeys, antelopes, birds. Continue to Bouamir place. Dinner and night under tents.

Day 4 : Bouamir

Full day at Bouamir to observ animals at Bouamir Rock. Dinner and night under tents.

Day 5 : Bouamir – Somalomo

Back to Somalomo. Dinner and night at Barthelemy lodge.

Day 6 : Somalomo – Mama Pymgy Camp

After breakfast, departure to the pygmy camp. Arrival and installation at the pygmy Camp. Handing over the gifs and beginning of activities of hunting, fishing and gathering of wild honey. Gathering of forest fruits, traditional drawing of water, traditional medicine. Dance by all the village in the night around the big fire. Dinner and night under tents.

Day 7 : Mama pygmy Camp – Yaounde

Wake up early morning to the sounds of animals, birds, insects, etc.. breakfast and return to Somalomo by canoe crossing Dja river. Arrive at Somalomo and continuation to Yaounde and end of stay.
