Trekking and Hiking in the Atlantika Mountains
– 10 days / 9 nights
Trekking, walking and discovery on the Atlantika mountains, best place for Cameroon tourism. Rhumsiki is situated in an extra-terrestrial landscape created by volcanic dykes. These gigantic lava peaks come from the volcano and cover the earth’s surface. You will discover the chain of Mandara mountains: dreamlike vision.
During these few days of trekking, discovery of the Koma tribes from the village to village and mountain to mountain (between 1400 and 1700m) through enchanting landscapes, discovering lifestyles, reliefs and tradition, ancestral practices of these peoples dresses only in strings made of leaves. Women, dresses in wrappers only made of leaves, smoke pipes and are busy between the kitchen and farm. Strolling in this area can last from 3 hours to a week. This is a great moment in the discovery of culture of north Cameroon.

Itinerary
Day 1 : Yaounde
Meet and greet at the Yaounde airport, welcome and transfer to hotel for dinner and night.
Day 2: Yaounde – Ngaoundere
Departure in the morning to Mefou National Park. This park was created in 1999. we have lowland gorilla, chimpanzee and other monkeys. We will arrive in Yaounde before 13h00, just to take our lunch at Casa Negra. we take our train in the evening to Ngaoundére.
Day 3 : Ngaoundere – Mount Atlantika
Arrival in the morning, stop over for breakfast and visit the Lamido”s palace then continuation to Wangay, a small village at the foot of Altantika Mountain, at the road side – meeting the Lamido and svisit his palace. Here we will leave our bags and take only necessary for the stay on the mountain. The village is very welcoming and will allow us preparing the departure to the maountain . we will stay 4 night and 5 days with normal walking and stop overs different villages. Will climb 2000 m . our first night will be at Atlantika under tents.
Day 4 : Lebroum – Nagamalou
Full day trekking and walks to various villages who have kept the ancestral touch with and exceptional Lebruoum, Nagalamou traditional architecture, where peoples are still in the past despite western civilization. Dinner and night the tents.
Day 5 : Bimilerou – Balangi – Guelba village
There is no static itinerary because, according to the various villages, we wish to meet unique tribes like Koma and to discover places where traditional life is still lived. Dressed string made of leaves, women smoke pipes and lives peaceful lives cultivating the land with their men, whom we see moving around with their arms (bows, spears, etc….) across the shoulders. We pass through Bimilerou, Balangi, Sinli and Guelba villages. A river is flowing through this mountain and according to its flow, a swim is possible. Dinner and night under tents.
Day 6 : Bakipa – Singli
Morning wake, breakfast and departure for trekking in the villages and meetings the Koma peoples in Bakipa, Dini, Wippi and Singli. Koma people have a special way of celebrating certain way : after ingestion of a particular plant, there are dances with very scatological sounds… we are in the place of legendary Koma farters. Dinner and night under the tents.
Day 7 : Wangay – Fignolé
We go down to the Bororo village to our point of departure. Wangay, where we will rest and lunch in the shade of the saré. Then we return to the track for 2 hours the leave for Fignolé Catholic mission. We will retrace our steps and pass through the Faro reserve to watch birds and animals. On arrival, we will visit the center and the village. A water point we enable us to take a bath before the evening meal under big mango trees. Dinner and night unter tents.
Day : 8 : Fignolé – Poli – Garoua
Morning wake after breakfast, departure to Garoua via Poli. Arrival in Garoua. Dinner and night at hotel.
Day 9 : Garoua – Ngaoundere – Yaounde
After departure, we leave Garoua to Ngaoundere. Spend a whole day to the car. You will have the opportunity to admire the sahelian landscape of north Cameroon and meet with the cattle herds along the way. Arrival in Ngaoundere and we take the train in the evening to Yaounde. Dinner and night in the train.
Day 10 : Yaounde
Arrive in the morning and drive to Ebogo Touristic village. Full day to relax and canoeing in Ebogo River. In evening drive to airport and end of stay
